A story properly told at last – Steve Jobs review

As an avid user of Apple products – I own an iPhone, an iPad and a Macbook Pro – I have always been curious about the company’s history. Also, following the death of co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs back in 2012, I realised I didn’t really know that much about such a powerful figure. So how did the new film based on Jobs turn out?

Premium, not perfect – Spectre review

Skyfall was an outstanding Bond film. Following the dire Quantum of Solace it was a sensational comeback, so much so I even placed it pretty high on my list of the best James Bond films. So really director Sam Mendes had a hard act to follow with Spectre, but the trailers leading up to it’s release were certainly suggesting it could be one of the best Bond films ever made. Did it live up to that hype? Not quite.

Master deception, average execution – The Program review

Biopics seem to have this curse. It will either have a tremendous amount of impact and we’ll leave the cinema feeling dazed at the real life story we have saw brought to life once again. Or, some don’t have as much impact as intended, and although we can sense the efforts made to try and wow us, we leave the cinema feeling fairly unsatisfied. So where does The Program fit in?

Bringing life to Mars – The Martian review

Now I’m sure there will be some of you more arrogant movie-goers out there who will say a film based around space should be easy to make. I mean it’s just space right, its nothing? Wrong. Think about it; space, an infinite scope beyond anything we can fully comprehend, never mind bring to life on screen. So when a film tells a story of a man left on a desolate red planet, don’t let it pass by – especially when it’s as outstanding as The Martian.

Tiny hero, huge amount of fun – Ant-Man review

Oh Marvel; you bring us so many wonderful films. We have come all the way from Iron-Man, past the Avengers, and now we’re here. I was of course skeptical, so the question you’ll be asking; did Ant-Man deliver? Put simply, yes, yes it did.
