The brilliance of cinema is that there is something out there for everyone. Needing a good laugh? I’ll find you a film. Wanting a good love story? I’ll find you a film, just not Twilight. Fancy a film that’s going to keep you on the edge of your seat, and get the adrenaline pumping? I’ll find you a film, and that film is Everest.
Disaster flicks are surprisingly difficult to get right. As simple as you may think it is, it has to be just right to keep our attention. Look at The Day After Tomorrow; special effects were great, but the story was a bit dull and the film itself got boring in its second act. How about 2012; special effects were fantastic, but the cast and also the story just weren’t right and it felt more like a mockery of the 2012 theory rather than a decent disaster movie. However, I’m glad to be able to say that after viewing San Andreas, I’m very pleased.
