Organisers of the Oscars will continue to use accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) despite the infamous blunder in February.
PwC took responsibility for the mistake which saw La La Land announced as Best Picture instead of the rightful winner, Moonlight.
Cheryl Boone Isaacs, President of the Academy, has said that that electronic devices will no longer be allowed backstage after PwC’s Brian Cullinan was caught posting Twitter photos before the announcement.
PwC count and organise the votes and the envelopes used to announce the winners on the glamorous night.
Ms Boone Isaacs said: “From the night of the ceremony through today, PwC has taken full responsibility for the mistake.
“After a thorough review, including an extensive presentation of revised protocols and ambitious controls, the board has decided to continue working with PwC.”
This comes after Mr Cullinan and his fellow PwC accountant Martha Ruiz were told they would never work at the Oscars again. The incident marked the awards’ most high profile error since its inception in 1929
