Cam’s Picks of the Week

A mysterious guest, a frantic newsroom and your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

The Film Pick: The Guest

Adam Wingard’s relatively unknown pulp thriller is simmering pot of intrigue and mayhem. Dan Stevens’ terrific turn as the titular entity is frighteningly charming – emphasis on the frightening. All made better by a sublime 80s synth style soundtrack that complements the shifting tones from drama to horror to all out action.

The TV Pick: The Newsroom

The West Wing may be Aaron Sorkin’s magnum opus, but his follow up show, The Newsroom, is a blistering, biting satire of America’s newsrooms, tackling the morality issues that accompany working in the media with a rapid wit Sorkin could write in his sleep.

The Game Pick: Spider-Man 2 (PS2)

Spidey has made many appearances on consoles over the years, but none have come close to the immense heights of the PS2 classic. The web slinging mechanics were far ahead of their time, still managing to capture the sense of sheer joy that made us feel like the superhero ourselves.
